WVATA President Tony Corley was involved in an extraordinarily timely and expansive interview on the Charleston’s WCHS radio afternoon drivetime show that is hosted by Rick Johnson and Mike Agnello. The hosts expressed great interest in the subject matter during the more than 20-minute session.

Tony was able to offer “war stories” about the roles of athletic trainers in the state, as well as telling the audience that athletic trainers who graduated from the WVU program are employed by multiple professional football and basketball teams around the country.

The hosts were highly interested in the role athletic trainers play regarding decisions on play following concussions. Johnson and Agnello urged the WVATA to follow up with them on progress regarding legislation. Agnello also urged lawmakers to get behind the WVATA’s efforts at licensure.

The interview prompted a listener call from a former coach in the St. Albans area, who praised the work of athletic trainers and said the perfect scenario would be for athletic trainers to be available at all school sports events.
